The Women of St. Bernadette is a group of friends interested in promoting an ever-greater experience of the goodness of our common life in Christ. They wish to make more evident to themselves, their families, children and fellow parishioners: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”
To this end, The Women of St. Bernadette are behind an initiative to increase the frequency of Community Sundays after Masses. Anyone interested in helping with this initiative can contact Margie McCarthy at mccarthymh@verizon.net.
The group also proposes to women of the parish The Well-Read Woman book club:
The Well-Read Woman book club at St. Bernadette’s parish is a chapter of the Well-Read Mom. (More information about this international Catholic book club can be found at www.wellreadmom.com.) The book club is open to all women, since every woman is a mother in the deepest sense, as one who is “entrusted with the human being in a special way” (John Paul II, Mulieris Dignitatem, 30). Meetings take place during the school year on the first Thursday of the month at 7:45 pm in the Monsignor Stricker Room. For more information about the book club, contact Jasmine Kuzner at jasminekuzner@gmail.com.
Other ideas for building up our unity are most welcome. The Women of St. Bernadette is not a group holding activities for its “members.” On the contrary, it is a loose group of women friends, who propose things for the benefit of the whole parish. Any women interested in joining us are most welcome! For more information, please contact Margie McCarthy at mccarthymh@verizon.net.
