Adult Faith Formation

Adult Formation is the principal form of catechesis, because it is addressed to persons who have the greatest responsibilities and the capacity to live the Christian message in its fully developed form.(CT 90) The Christian community cannot carry out a permanent catechesis without the direct and skilled participation of adults, whether as receivers or as promoters of catechetical activity. For cathecisis to be effective, it must be permanant, and it would be quite usless if it stopped short of the threshhold of maturity.

This ongoing Bible study group meets on Thursdays in the MSR. However, if you are unable to meet Thursdays, alternative accomodations can be made. The Bible Study is given by EWTN personality and Scripture scholar, Jeff Cavins. For more information on the study, go to If you wish to join, contact Ryan at

“A Theological Time Bomb”!
This, in George Weigel’s words, is the best way to describe the Theology of the Body—John Paul II’s sustained look at the meaning of the human body, human existence, sexuality and vocation. And though this monumental work has been around for over thirty years and has led to fresh ways of thinking about the Church’s teaching on marriage and sexuality, many Catholics remain confused about what John Paul II really meant and how—if at all!—it applies to them. And yet the Theology of the Body (TOB) is highly relevant—its message is universal: for the single and the married; for parents and teens; for those striving to live authentic holiness…and for those searching for greater meaning.

As our society becomes increasingly obsessed with the body, and, simultaneously, confused about what it actually signifies, the TOB sheds light on the mystery of the human person and of the human body. It also paves the way to a more profound understanding of the Church’s teaching on many controversial issues, such as contraception, IVF, cloning, gay marriage and divorce, among others.
